Give your bob a new year makeover
Over the last year, we’ve seen countless interpretations of short hair. There’s been bobs (a la Lucy Hale), fobs (where long hair is clipped up to mimic a bob), lobs (a longer version of the bob that sweeps the collarbone), and even pixie cuts and shaved heads that surprisingly look chic and edgy.
As for this year? We’re predicting that short hair is here to stay, and we’re looking to Margot Robbie, Gal Gadot and Kendall Jenner for inspiration.
Enter the uneven lob.
“A textured, undone hairstyle, such as the uneven lob, is a really flattering style that can be dressed up or down easily,” says hairstylist Elyston Hayden. “It suits most face shapes, medium to thick hair types, those with side or middle parts, and is surprisingly easy to style on a daily basis.”
The main reason why this hairstyle simply works is its ability to frame the face perfectly.
“Gal Gadot wears her hair more to the side to accentuate her cheekbones. Margot Robbie goes for a deep part to let the focus be more on her lips. Plus, this hairstyle also works for Kendall Jenner to bring attention to her alluring eyes.”
The uneven lob’s versatility is also worth shouting about. A tong can add a subtle wave to hair, a texturising spray can be scrunched into mid-lengths and ends for a messy effect, or a volumising product, like a powder or mousse, can be used to boost volume at the roots.
If you’re looking for new ways to style up your locks, follow these steps to give your hair a cool-girl edge.
