Dannii Minogue is blonde again for the first time in 20 years
The singer said goodbye to her brunette locks
Dannii Minogue might have become known for her soft brunette hair in recent years, but the petite singer and television personality has now ditched her richer locks for a dramatically lighter ombré shade with the help of L’Oréal Professionnel’s new colour treatment, Smartbond.
Smartbond is the brand’s latest in-salon service, formulated to actually strengthen and protect hair during the colouring process – so you can essentially make a drastic hair change without having to worry about compromising the health of your hair.
Beauty Crew was lucky enough to sit down with Dannii and ask her all about her new colour, the big reveal, and how it feels to be a blonde.
What inspired you to make the change?
“I’ve wanted to go blonde for a while now and now that I have my son more settled, I have the time and am in the right headspace to get back to doing things more wild and fun and have a style that needs more maintenance.”
Did you have any concerns or worries about changing the colour so drastically?
“I was mainly concerned about the condition [of the hair]. I wanted it to be good especially because as television is in such high definition, it’s really important for the condition to be good and Smartbond enabled that. When it’s massaged into the hair, it’s the creamiest feeling and once the colour is done, your hair still feels like the same hair.”
Do you use any specific treatments to keep it healthy?
“With Smartbond, you’re given the special conditioner to use a home which locks into the Smartbond that they apply to your hair in the salon. This means you’re continually topping up at home, between appointments. So this is all very new to me, but I’m starting to use that and it leaves my hair feeling beautiful.”
Was the reveal a big shock?
“Yes! We covered the mirror and all I could see in my peripherals was that it looked really blonde. And as it took stages for it to really get this light, I could just see little bits every now and again. So it took me a second to look and feel how it moves but it was good fun. Especially because when I was in the UK I was a judge on Top Model and obviously one of my favourite episodes in those series is the makeovers. So I thought ‘Yep, I put people through it, lets do the big reveal!”
Has your beauty routine changed with you new colour?
“Not yet, but I’m looking forward to playing around with it. Especially with makeup! I love a ‘90s dark brow with blonde and darker roots, so while this is a fairly fresh and natural look, I’m looking forward to playing around with it and having some fun then.
Do blondes really have more fun?
“Everyone has been asking me that and I’m not sure, but they certainly get more attention!”
Fed up of your hair and looking for a change? This is exactly what you need to know to get out of a hair rut.
