Our Beauty Editor puts the cult foundation to the test
If you were to ask anyone at Beauty Crew, they’d definitely tell you I’m someone that really abides by the motto ‘live your best life’. I believe that pampering should happen on a frequent basis, rather than simply be something you save for once in blue moon. After all, wouldn’t you rather indulge in small amounts of happiness almost on a daily basis over experiencing something overwhelming once in a while?
For me, this could range from ordering a nice glass of Spanish wine at dinner instead of the house red, or more-than-occasionally skipping down to the local cafe near the office to grab an oversized choc chip cookie (because trust me, they are seriously to die for). As for beauty, I’ve recently added the luxe Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation to my makeup routine, and I haven’t looked back.
The product is a sensorial experience from start to finish: the frosted bottle is beautiful to look at and comfortable to hold, the lid can be smoothly removed and clicked back into place with ease, and the ergonomic pump distributes just the right amount of product (so there’s no wastage).
And then there’s the formula. Here’s what I love about it.
#1 / How it feels on my skin
The name Luminous Silk says it all: The foundation feels as lightweight as silk, as if you’re not even wearing anything on your skin. What I also love is how this feeling remains constant all day - even when it’s creeping into the end of play and you’ve had your foundation on for hours.
#2 / How it looks on my skin
The finish of the foundation is my absolute favourite. The brand describes the foundation as radiant-matte, which teeters between looking glowy and natural. Best of all, it just makes your skin look perfect, like you’ve had loads of sleep the night prior.
I personally like to wear it during the day to work or on the weekend when I’m running around town, but I get extra giddy when I see it in a makeup artist’s kit when we are filming videos for Beauty Crew. This foundation just makes my skin look flawless on camera, and is not at all heavy, cakey or mask-like.
#3 / Its coverage
The coverage of the foundation is mostly medium, but it really depends on how you apply the product. If I’m after a light coverage, I like to tap a small amount into areas of my face that flush redness the most, such as my nose and cheeks. For a medium coverage, I like to apply it with a brush and really work the foundation into the contours of my face; and for a fuller coverage, with a sponge I tap another layer of foundation onto areas that need more attention.
And because the formula is so easy to blend and doesn’t set too quickly, there’s no chance for error when you’re putting it on.
I’m not alone in my thoughts… our Review Crew® panel recently tried this foundation and they’re just as obsessed as I am. Read their Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation reviews to find out what they thought.
