The bizarre place you should be applying perfume
We’re confused and intrigued in equal measures
We’re confused and intrigued in equal measures
We’ve been told time and time again that the best areas of the body to apply fragrance are on the pulse points, like our neck, wrists and elbows. And for good reason. These areas generate heat, which subsequently intensifies and diffuses any given perfume.
It turns out however, that there’s another location we should be spritzing our favourite fragrance on and around. The new revelation is all thanks to Liv Tyler, who told Into The Gloss she wears perfume in her belly button. “My dad taught me that –if you put it where you heat up, the smell stays with you.”
We know what you’re thinking…why on earth would you apply perfume on your belly button when it’s cloaked in clothing all day long? As it turns out an editor at Refinery29 put the trick to the test and found her perfume not only lasted longer than normal but stretched further than when applied to the traditional pulse points we all know and love. The thought is that the small concave area emanates body heat and also serves as a little repository storeroom for a scent.
We’re not denying that Liv Tyler’s technique is a little odd, but hey, if it leaves you smelling glorious all day long, we think it’s worth a try.
