Emma Corrin went makeup-free to receive her Critics Choice Award
Look, we can all admit that awards shows aren’t what they used to be thanks to COVID-19. But with that being said, perhaps the lack of glitz and glamour is a welcome one. The whole rigmarole is exhausting to watch as an audience, so we have no doubt the entire process can get overwhelming for the women in the spotlight.
Year after year, female celebrities are paraded down red carpets in exquisitely designed gowns, their hair and makeup done to the nines. All the while having to combat questions about their appearance while their male counterparts breeze past lines of paparazzi without a care in the world.
But now we’re all stuck at home, there’s no one to impress, and it seems female celebs are relishing the opportunity to have their work take centre stage.
Case and point? The Crown star Emma Corrin just accepted her Critics Choice Award for her role as Diana — completely barefaced. And yes, we are obsessed.
The makeup-free moment was refreshing to witness: Corrin’s arches were expertly groomed, skin clear as a whistle, and her eyes bright as she accepted her award for best actress in a drama series.
Of course, we’ve seen stars like Alicia Keys champion a more natural approach to red carpet beauty before, but if there’s one thing we’d love to see come out of this pandemic it’s a return to a more authentic depiction of beauty in the sphere of celebrity.
