I’ve just discovered the secret to faking a bouncy blowout in under 10 minutes
The only hair tool you’ll need tbh
Despite all the time (and money) I’ve invested in my hair over the years, I’ve never quite mastered the bouncy blowout. I’ve tried just about every hot tool and anti-frizz spray under the sun. But every time it’s a battle of tugging, snagging and tired arms – and I’m basically left looking like Hagrid.
For thick, long, frizzy hair like mine, nailing an at-home blowout is nearly impossible. Not to mention that my hair hardly holds a curl, let alone a flicked end.
So you can imagine my surprise when a new hot tool landed on my desk, promising to deliver volume and effortless on-the-go styling. I’ll admit I was sceptical at first. But after putting the tool to the test, I was absolutely sold and it’s become a mainstay in my daily styling routine.
The product
The hot tool in question? Lady Jayne’s Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush. The tool is designed to be used to style dry hair literally anywhere, powered by USB with up to 25 minutes of cordless styling time.
The 27mm radial (translation: round) hot brush is the perfect size for creating bouncy waves, flicks and perfecting your bangs (Daisy Jones, eat your heart out). Thanks to the ceramic-ionic infused barrel, each section of your is left shiny and silky smooth throughout your styling session and beyond.
If heat damage is your concern, fear not. The Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush features three heat settings from 160-200 degrees so you can customise each styling session according to your hair type and texture. And did we mention this baby promises up to an 80 per cent increase in volume? Let’s put it to the test…
Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush review
Unpackaging the hot brush, I thought there was no way it would be able to create a style that would actually hold. But boy was I wrong.
Let’s start with my first impressions of the tool. It’s super lightweight and, although it’s long, it’s compact enough to fit into my everyday tote bag. The rose gold detailing is super chic and I love that it comes with a soft case to make storage easy.
I charged my tool for a few hours using the convenient USB cord. And finally, it was time to test out the product claims. I switched the tool on and opted for the 180 degrees setting that I know works best with my hair. As my hair is very long and thick, I sectioned the top half off while the brush heated up and then went in on the bottom section.
My hair is prone to tangling and snagging in radial brushes (I always start with a freshly detangled mane, of course), but the first thing I noticed was how smooth and effortlessly the Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush glided through my hair. The plastic bristles are quite thick, so there was no bending or warping in sight (unlike other hot brushes I’ve used).
I opted for a soft wavy blowout style, first holding the brush on the underside of each section at the roots for 5-7 seconds, then going in from the topside and styling the hair away from my face like I would when curling with a straightener.
Guilty confession: I did forget to use a heat protectant spray at first (a cardinal hair sin, I know), but noticed that after adding a quick mist to the rest of my hair, dampening the strands ever so slightly, the waves formed much more effortlessly. The instructions do say to use only on dry hair, but I found that a light misting of spray actually sped the process up a little as I wasn’t having to redo sections that didn’t have quite enough bounce.
I worked my way through the bottom half of my hair and then started on the top section, taking extra care to boost volume at the roots for that signature fresh-from-the-salon look.
And when it came to styling my bangs? The brush worked its magic and formed the wispy flick I usually spent an eternity trying to perfect with my other tools. Chef’s kiss.

The final verdict
Although it took me a few goes to perfect my wave technique, the hot brush proved to be a perfect ally for a quick hair transformation. I love how shiny, soft and tangle-free my tresses were after each use, and the adjustable heat settings were a godsend for my dry, temperamental strands.
My initial scepticism quickly became an obsession, and I can see this tool becoming an everyday staple in my haircare and styling arsenal. The entire process took around 10 minutes, with plenty of battery life left. My only gripe? The fact I didn’t have it on hand sooner (those long days at fashion week really got the best of my hair…).
So if fuss-free styling is as important to you as it is to me, snag yourself a Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Volumising Hot Brush ($89.99 at Lady Jayne). Nailing Sydney Sweeney’s signature style has never been so easy.
