Your wellness guide to using (and loving) crystals
Because they're more than just aesthetically pleasing
Crystals have a bad rap for being a little 'woo-woo'. And while we have to admit they aren’t going to magically fix all of your problems, we think having a piece of mother earth around is weirdly comforting.
Some of you may have heard of certain crystal benefits, while others may have no idea where to start. But whichever crystal knowledge camp you fall into, we’re here to help.
BEAUTYcrew spoke with the founder of crystal-infused candle brand Myles Gray, Janelle Palibrk, who gave us the lowdown on how you can introduce crystals into your wellness practice.
How to use crystals
If you ask Palibrk, crystals are essential to our daily practice. . “They bring the most beautiful energy into our home and lives,” she says. “ Each crystal is so different you can really dictate the energy you want to bring into your wellness practice.”
If you’re new to the crystal game entirely or are looking to switch up your stones, Palibrk suggests doing so slowly. “I would always recommend adding one crystal at a time and really connecting to that crystal.”
When asked for further dos and don’ts around daily crystal use, she answered,“I am a big believer in making crystal healing really simple.”
“I always keep protective crystals near my front door; black tourmaline, black obsidian and labradorite are a few options.”
“Rose quartz is great in the heart of the home, amethyst is beautiful in the bedroom or to meditate with,” she continues. “I also carry around a clear quartz point at the moment, to amplify my spiritual awareness.”
If you’re keen to use multiple crystals at once, placing them around different areas of the home can work wonders. “Manifesting with a crystal grid is [also] an amazing technique to use,” Palibrk says. However, “it can be a little more complex.”
Ready to embrace all forms of energies?
From protective stones that don’t play when it comes to bad juju or confidence-boosting crystals that’ll give you that little energetic kick up the butt right when you need it, these are some of our favourite crystals to keep on hand for a bit of relief from the rigors of daily life.
