Copper is being called the breakout hair hue of 2019

When it comes to summer hair trends, ‘babylights’ and ‘lowlights’ have long been the go-to for city dwellers looking to create the illusion of a beach babe glow. While bronde hair - in all its varied incarnations - was the hair colour of 2018, the new year is already shaping up to be all about copper hair.

We’ve already started seeing strawberry blonde and copper-toned tresses popping up all over social media and it’s the colour du jour of It-girls Lara Worthington, Zoey Deutch and Kate Bosworth. If you’re wary of looking 'ranga' then it’s worth noting that copper isn’t simply red or orange hair. It’s a cool-toned multi-dimensional hue that makes blue eyes look brighter and gives skin an ever-so-subtle glow. In fact, Hollywood stylist George Papanikolas has already dubbed copper the hottest hair trend of the year. "Red and copper tones are going to make a strong statement this season," he tells Refinery29.
