PSA: It’s time to inject your summer holidays with a bit of Hollywood glamour.

This sunny season we’re shooting for the stars literally, and looking to the rich and famous for updo hairstyle inspiration.

Lucky for us, the LACMA Art + Film Gala red carpet delivered a wealth of glamorous beauty inspiration that’ll have your hair looking chic for every summer soirée.

From Paris Hilton’s perfectly primped ponytail to Laura Harrier catalysing the hair trend of the event — the carpet was rife with Studio 54-inspired haute hoods — updos proved to be the look du jour of the evening.

We’ve scoured the star-studded scene for the most stylish of strands — here are six celebrity-approved updo trends to try.

Centre-parted slicked back bun

Grace Jones paired her iconic flat top with a haute hood in the heyday of Studio 54. But celebrities such as Harrier, Alessandra Ambrosio, and BLACKPINK’s Rosé opted for centre-parted updos in contemporary styles. Both Harrier and Ambrosio slicked back their manes into low buns, which they then tucked away into their hoods to showcase their makeup.

Ballerina bun

Sydney Sweeney delivered a modern iteration of ballerina couture in a marshmallow pink Giambattista Valli gown. Sweeney carried the dancer theme through to her hair with a neat bun and deep side part.

Hair jewellery

A chignon may seem simple, but as Stella Maxwell proves with her updo for the evening, they’re far from boring. The model decorated hers with links of gold chains woven into her hair.

Barbie ponytail

Paris Hilton always looks put together, but her take on the classic pony is pure perfection. It also strikes an uncanny resemblance to another iconic blonde's updo of choice — we’re coining this one the ‘Barbie ponytail’.

The pile up

This one goes out to all the curly-haired girls out there. Work with your natural texture, rather than against it. Smooth down the sides and pile your curls on top of your head for a bit of volume and body.

An undone plait

Take BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s lead and try a more casual and undone iteration of a plait. The style is easy enough to master and you can always accessorise with ribbons, hair ties and clips if you so please.
