Charli XCX has named the *official* colour of the season

*Brat Green* that is...

TBH, we didn't see the day coming where bright green makeup looks would be taking over our feeds once more. But here we are. And nope, they're not coming in hot and heavy for the highly anticipated Shrek 5 film, it's all thanks to pop sensation, Charli XCX.

The star released her latest album 'brat' on the 7th June, and ever since then, we've all been totally mad for a particularly 'slime'-coloured shade of green. The bold, bright and kind of aggressive tone has completely made a splash, in and out of the music scene.

But if you're still left wondering what was Charlie XCX's meaning behind 'brat', she explains it below, as messy and ready to party through any mistake (iconic behaviour, really). And while the 'brat' makeup trend doesn't totally embody the spirt, sporting smudged liner and running through a smidge of trial and error makeup looks is so brat.

Brat Green Makeup

Brat Green Nail Polish

If you're looking to lean into 'brat' beauty for a good time but not a long time, then a quick lick of polish is the way to go. The bright neon green might lend itself more to a summer's day, but hey, let's spice up winter with something a little different. We can even draw a little inspo from Hailey Bieber's radioactive neon green Coachella nails for a bolder mani mood.

Because we feel that our best 'brat' selves would opt for a stand out glitter we've got two different tone options. The first light and bright shimmering tone is the OPI Infinite Shine in 'Limelight' ($24.95 at The Iconic). The second one literally leans towards more 'Oscar the Grouch' but still provides a layered lacquer of quick-drying colour. The polish in question? Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Nail Colour in 'Sesame Street Scram' ($12.95 at Chemist Warehouse). And because we know not everyone loves a hit of glitter as much as we do (i.e. a lot) we've found the glossy-flat toned alternative, Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish in '880 Grassy Fields' ($8.95 at Priceline).

Brat Green Eyeshadow

Look we'll be honest. Is green eyeshadow for everyone? Probably not. Technically it suits hazel eyes the best, but for the sake of living your best 'brat' self, play around and give it a go! Heck, Shay Mitchell sure has. It might be tricky to find your perfect green tone, but we think we've done a good job sourcing a range of green shades.

For the softer paler, subtler tones opt for the Natasha Denona Retro Glam Palette ($125 at Sephora). If you're keen to have a dabble in bolder shades the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Norvina Pro Palette Vol. 2 ($44 at Anastasia Beverly Hills) offers a mix of stronger green shades, mixed with some other earthy tones if the green of it all gets too much. But if you're a diehard Charli XCX fan and you're coming in HOT with the brat beauty looks, the ColorPop Just My Luck Shadow Palette ($14 at ColorPop) is bringing the green range you're after.

Brat Green Eyeliner

Who doesn't love a bright and bold graphic liner moment? We're personally kind of obsessed, so we've already added these flick-fashioning liners to our (rather extensive) shopping cart.

If you're in two minds about trying green eyeliner or eyeshadow, the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in 'Smokey Emerald' ($45 at Charlotte Tilbury) seamlessly blends the worlds together. Coat your whole eye in the shade, or reserve it just for a lick of eyeliner, you can chose your own adventure! If your tightline is calling for a hit of the green goodness NYX Vivid Rich Mech Liner Pencil in 'Its Giving Jade' ($17.99 at Chemist Warehouse) will tick all your boxes. Liquid liner fanatics, we've not forgotten about you. Maybelline's Hyper Precise Liner All Day in 'Jungle Green' ($19.99 at Chemist Warehousewill create that perfect flick.
