3 products that’ll make switching to a more natural beauty routine a breeze
Natural beauty was once something many of us turned up our noses at a good few years back. It all seemed a little hippy dippy; something that sounded nice but somewhat unrealistic because a) natural products were mostly found in health stores or in the dark corners of the Internet, and b) there was an assumption that natural ingredients were synonymous with ineffectiveness.
But now? Well, now we’ve become a generation of conscious consumers. We like to know what we are putting on our faces; we want the impact we’re making on the environment to be as minimal as possible; we want to do better all around. And so natural, clean, ethical, and sustainable beauty has BOOMED in the last couple of years.
But there’s still a hesitation amongst the majority to make the switch to a more natural beauty routine. Why? Mainly because there’s still that fear that if you swap your beloved product for an alternative that has natural ingredients, it won’t work as well. You’ll have to settle for subpar results. But the reality is this couldn’t be further from the truth, with hundreds of beauty brands offering really good products, minus the chemicals.
We could go on for days highlighting some of the best natural products around, but, you know, time is precious, the rest of the Internet and social media is calling, and you probably need to get to that Game of Thrones episode before anyone ruins it for you. So we’re going to pick just three products you’re likely to use every day and that we think are so good, you won’t even think twice about the natural swap you’ve made.
Your everyday lip colour
Did you know that Nude by Nature has been around for 10 years? How incredible is it that it has been on this whole natural (AND cruelty-free) makeup train for so long? But while been around for basically forever, lip products are relatively new territory for the brand. The Creamy Matte Lipstick is its latest offering, and we have a feeling it will be a very welcome addition to your beauty kit.
Besides the fact that the rich and creamy formula glides on like a dream to give lips a pigmented and full-coverage matte colour in one swipe, it’s also free from nasties, like carmine, petroleum waxes, silicones, coal tar dyes, and synthetics. Yep, all you’ll find here is a combination of good-for-you natural actives (think vitamin E and native Australian Kakadu plum to help provide antioxidant defence) and nourishing ingredients like mango seed butter, jojoba, and unique moisturising HA microspheres that ensure lips feel comfortable all day while the colour sticks around for just as long. The range has 10 very wearable shades, but we think that 03 Rose Quartz is a great everyday shade, and 09 Roseberry will be an excellent nighttime colour to wear this winter.
Your age-fighting skin care
Hands up if you’ve ever passed on a natural product when it comes to keeping your skin looking fresh and young? Most of us have, because we all think that surely potent age fighters can’t be found in a plant. But Andalou Naturals is changing that misconception with their 99 per cent naturally-derived Age Defying range, which harnesses the power of fruit stem cell science (and natural ingredients of resveratrol and CoQ10) to fight the signs of ageing and keep skin looking young and glowy. We think this starter kit is the perfect stepping stone for those wanting to give anti-ageing natural skin care a chance.
Your odour-controlling deodorant
One of the most talked-about products in the natural beauty space is deodorant. So many people want to make the switch to aluminium-free, but there’s always the concern that a natural deodorant just won’t work in the BO department.
Like all natural beauty products, deodorants have come a long way, and Kopari Coconut Oil Deodorant is a strong contender if you’re looking to take the plunge and go natural. The nourishing stick is free from aluminum and baking soda, and contains 100 per cent plant-based active ingredients that are non-toxic and work hard to stave off odour and tackle the bacteria that causes body odour.
You also might like to know that Kopari is vegan, cruelty-free and the coconut oil is sustainably sourced.
