10 autumnal makeup looks to sample this season

Can colours be cosy? We think yes
News flash: Autumn has officially arrived.
We've already booked our autumn hair appointment, re-evaluated our entire skin care routine, and revamped our fragrance collections with seasonally appropriate scents. Now, we're turning our attention to our makeup by mindlessly scrolling through 'inspiring' images of celebrities.
Like, we mentioned in our 2025 makeup trends rundown earlier this year, skin is in, so we suggest you become well-acquainted with the ins and outs of a no-makeup makeup look, and fast. Additionally, you can expect to see a lot of thoughtfully applied blush in berry hues and a smattering of sparkle eyeshadow, which we also predicted at the start of 2025.
The only thing we didn't account for was everyone's current obsession with cool-toned makeup — there's never been a better time to retire that bronze cream eyeshadow pot you've been using a few years too long. Try investing in matte, cool-toned taupe or mauve liquid and cream eyeshadows instead, we promise you'll get a lot more wear out of them. Think: Merit's Solo Shadow in 'Studio' ($38 from Merit) or M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in 'Tailor Grey' ($47 from M.A.C Cosmetics).
Lip colours are cool-toned too, but don't expect to see matte, liquid lipsticks anytime soon — glassy effect glosses, balms and lip sticks are in vogue. And if you prefer long wearing lip colour, expect to be converted to the cult of K-Beauty lip plumping and blurring tints with picks like Fwee's 3D Voluming Gloss ($24 from W Cosmetics) or Clio's Hug Blur Tint ($22 from W Cosmetics).

The real secret to mastering all of these complexion forward makeup looks this season is learning how to achieve flawless skin without makeup.

Briar Clark got her start in the media industry in 2017, as an intern for Marie Claire and InStyle. Since then, her keen interest in fashion and beauty has landed her gigs as a Digital Content Producer and Beauty Editor with titles like Girlfriend, Refinery29, BEAUTYcrew and beautyheaven. She loves the way seemingly innocuous topics like skin care and style have the ability to put a smile on people’s faces or make them think about themselves a little differently. A big believer in self love and experimentation, Briar has made a point of becoming the Australian beauty industry’s unofficial guinea pig for unusual treatments and daring hair trends. When she’s not testing out the latest beauty launches, Briar is big on broadening her horizons, mostly in the form of food but she’s also partial to travelling to new destinations both near and far (and of course, allocating an extra bag to bring their best beauty offerings home with her).
