The breakfast radio host shares her time-saving morning tricks
She made her debut on TV for The Bachelorette, and now she’s making waves on breakfast radio for Sydney station 2DAY FM. Here, she chats to us about her beauty routine (and early wakeups!), favourite beauty products, fitness routine, and more.
Now that you’re doing morning radio, how are you finding the change with waking up early?
I can definitely say it’s been a change, and it’s all about doing everything quite quickly in the morning and prep the night before. For example my beauty routine in the morning is down to 5-10 minutes meaning at night I spend more time looking after my skin and doing hair treatments.
What about makeup – do you find that you still have to wear makeup even though you’re on radio?
Yes I do actually, because everything is filmed and recorded. Plus we’ve always got guests and you always want to look presentable in front of them, and your colleagues. Casual and effortless is my go-to.
What’s your makeup look during the day?
[It’s] simple: a little tinted moisturiser or foundation, some blush and mascara, Lucas’ Pawpaw with a little lip liner and nicely moisturised skin.
What’s your go-to makeup look for a red carpet event?
My go-to would be lashes and brows, but I like to change up the overall look event to event. I think some stylists can get carried away and change your look, but what always works for me is feeling pretty while looking like me.
What are 5 beauty items you can’t live without?
Dr Spiller Cleansing Milk for cleansing my face. This is my splurge, but it’s worth it and lasts forever! I use this with a Dr Spiller Toner.
JBronze Medium Tanning Mousse gives the perfect glow. Always moisturise your elbows, hands, knees and ankles before applying!
Alpha Keri Heat-activating Firming and Slimming Serum. Use it after you scrub and before you use body butter, daily. I put it on, I can feel it doing its thing and it just works!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I love this as it’s really natural and light; I can still see my freckles when I wear it, which is what I prefer.
Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment. I’m never without this. It just works and can be used all the time. Sometimes all I wear on my lips is Pawpaw and a little lip liner.
What has been your biggest beauty discovery?
I’m obsessed with Olaplex. When you go to the hairdresser, you can actually request to have it put into your hair dye to nourish your hair, and you can take it home as a hair treatment. It’s the only reason I’ve been able to go lighter!
What’s your best beauty trick?
Sometimes when I get a pimple I’ll grab a cotton tip, pop either a little vinegar or Listerine on it and onto the spot. This helps to dry it out!
You’ve mentioned in the past that you like to set aside time on a Thursday night for “pamper night”. What do you get up to?
I will always start by running a bath for myself to have a good soak and really chill out. I’ll give my [body] a good scrub to cleanse before shaving my legs. Then I’ll put on a hair treatment and let it really soak in, for at least 10 minutes – bliss!
Once I’ve finished in the bath, I also make sure I spend time on my skin. I love the Alpha Keri Heat-activating Firming and Slimming Serum (you can feel it working!) followed with a nice thick body butter (I do love Alpha Keri!). I’m a bit OCD when it comes to moisturising, so I like to use a rich cream that really soaks into the skin.
After my bath I like to chill out, watch a show or movie on Netflix and paint my nails. Pamper night for me is all about rejuvenating; I love to do this once a week and wake up on Friday ready to face the world.
Who is your celebrity beauty icon, and why?
I love Rachel McAdams, she’s so naturally beautiful. She keeps it classy with her red carpet looks.
Do you follow a fitness routine? What do you do? How do you stay motivated?
If I’m being honest, I’ve slacked off a little in the fitness department since starting radio! I’ve found it hard coming home so tired in the afternoons. I still like to work out though and go to a gym class or for a walk – it’s easier now that I’ve got Rocky to walk. My sister is a great motivation though. She’s a working mum, a great wife and she runs marathons!
