Still unsure of what to gift (or ask for) this festive season? Why not go for a fragrance - they’re personal, practical, and seriously pretty, both on you and your dresser. And whether you steer towards fruity, floral or chypre fragrances, there’s definitely something for everyone this season. Here are our top picks.
Alaia Paris EDP Blanche
Alaia’s newest release is as delicate as a veil of sheer fabric. Unusually described as a “white, milky florality” by Marie Salamagne (one of the four creators of the fragrance), it carries powdery notes of vanilla and musk, and just a touch white flowers.
Chloe Fleur de Parfum EDP
The name may suggest an introduction of florals en masse to Chloe’s original EDP, but we were surprised to see the addition of raspberry for a fruity twist to the rose-based scent. Nonetheless, it’s beautiful and for those that are die-hard Chloe fans, this is a must-have to add to your collection.
Tom Ford Orchid Soleil EDP
We’ve never met a Tom Ford fragrance we didn’t like, and this one is no different. The brilliant bottle encapsulates pink peppercorn, fresh cypress, spider lily and tuberose in its top and middle notes, and reveals a sunny base of vanilla, chestnut cream and patchouli as the hours go by.
Chanel No. 5 L’eau
This fragrance makes a statement on its own, not because the juice is overtly loud or intrusive, but it’s the winning combination of citrus, rose, jasmine and musk that has the ability to perk up a drab mood.
YSL Mon Paris EDP
Described by its creators as a modern chypre, this heady creation also combines fruits and florals - zingy bergamot, raspberry and strawberry are layered over jasmine sambac, and settles into warming ambrox. It’s one that is easy to wear for the day, yet can turn heads through the night.
Marc Jacobs Gold Daisy Shine Edition EDT
One of the most iconic fragrances from the last decade has done it again; this time it’s packaged in an irresistible metallic gold case that carries a scent built from wild strawberry, grapefruit, gardenia, violet and musk.
Giorgio Armani Si Le Parfum
This spritz is as elegant as the bottle, and covers off notes such as blackcurrant nectar, freesia rose and blond wood. What we’re truly impressed with is how the scent wears over the hours - it’s stunning from first spritz to dry down.
