There’s now a mirror that can print makeup
Temporary tattoos meets flawless foundation
There’s not much that surprises us these days when it comes to new high-tech beauty launches, but Panasonic’s prototype for their Smart Mirror, which was unveiled at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies in Japan last week, had us picking our jaws up off the floor.
This new futuristic device is fitted with technology that analyses your skin by taking into account any wrinkles, blemishes, redness and sun damage you might have (it even picks up on damage that isn’t visible to the naked eye). The mirror then recommends certain products to correct those flaws (Panasonic is currently teaming up with select beauty brands to allow customers to purchase the suggested products immediately).
The most impressive element of the mirror however, is that after the skin analysis has taken place the device prints custom patches of makeup that are perfectly matched to your skin tone. The patch can then be applied to the skin, like a temporary tattoo, resulting in a makeup coverage that has been expertly customised to your skin.
Unfortunately, the mirror is still a prototype and isn’t quite ready for commercial use, however it’s fascinating to see where the future of makeup is heading. With this and virtual makeup inspiration already on the cards, we can’t wait to see what comes next.
