These are the four beauty brands behind Australian Fashion Week’s inaugural show

And you can totally get your hands on them…

PSA: Albus Lumen was a major standout at Australian Fashion Week this year , with the week’s inaugural show launching their 2025 Resort collection ‘Rebellion. Coloured by an underlying theme of ‘rebirth’ and ‘renewal’, archival pieces were given new life with layers of deconstruction, distressing and dying.

To match with this theme, Makeup Director Isabella Schimid wanted to create looks that were centred around a minimalist base, with an ‘undone’ lived in look. The looks wouldn’t have been completed, however, without an editorial-style lash. Schimid wanted to create a “glow, shine and [a] metallic look” which we see through the use of centre lid-placed lashes that had been “dusted with eye shadows in silver, blue and white to complement each outfit. The shimmer tones in the lashes create dimension to capture the light through the pearlescent finish of the colours”.

The theme of minimalism and rebellion extended to the models' brows. Jazz Brow Artist bleached many of their brows to create a silvery, glowing, blank canvas. Bleached brows are once again on the rise in popularity, mainly thanks to their versatility (Zendaya on the Met Steps, anyone?).

But we bet you’re wondering what makeup was used to create the glowing, fluttering looks. Well, we can let you in on a Parisian secret. For the metallic, glossy makeup Schimid used Sisley Paris, and while we don’t have a full breakdown, we spied the Sisley Paris Phyto-Teint Nude ($135 at Sisley Paris) bottles amongst the artist’s kits.

As for the lashes, get ready for some fantastic news. The outfit-complementing editorialised lashes are thanks to none other than Ardell! We told you it was good news. Schimid opted for the Ardell Naked Extension ($24.95 at Priceline) “to keep the look modern with an edge”.

A great fashion show needs great hair; it’s that simple. And keeping it simple (and seriously affordable) Hair Director Travis Balcke opted to enhance the model's strands with the brand new TRESemmé Lamellar range. All 50 models in the show had prepped their tresses with the TRESemmé Lamellar Shine Shampoo ($15 at Woolworths) and Conditioner ($15 at Woolworths) before arrival. The duo works to enhance strand shine and lustre (perfect for fitting in with the glossy metallics of the show), but the real star of the backstage show was the TRESemmé Lamellar Shine Serum ($20 at Woolworths), of which Balcke “used a generous pump on damp hair to really achieve the smooth and silky finish”.

The inspiration from the hair looks came from the casting - with all different hair looks and textures being chosen they really “wanted to enhance rather than mask hair”. This ethos pairs perfectly with the final partner brand, Shark Beauty. The Shark FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System ($499.99 at Shark Clean), with its multiple interchangeable heads, allowed Balcke to enhance each model's strands and create shining hair styles.

Overall, while the looks are definitely editorial, given the glimpses of the everyday affordable beauty, we’ll be able to incorporate aspects of the show into our glam looks. And you best believe we’ll be doing just that...
