What it is: Kiehl’s Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate

Why you need it: Sure, a face cloth can physically slough away dead skin, but nothing can beat a chemical peel to really get all the gunk out. Kiehl’s first foray into peels is their new Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate: a liquid treatment that’s gentle on all skin types, even sensitive ones. And, instead of artificial exfoliants, the product has been formulated entirely from super food quinoa. In fact, each bottle contains a concentrated extract of 2000 husks, sustainably-sourced from Bolivia. “As the quinoa seeds were being rinsed, it was noticed that the plant’s discarded outer husks had begun to bubble,” explains Roberta Weiss, Kiehl’s head of product innovation. “This activity led to the finding that quinoa husks have exemplary skin exfoliation benefits.”

What you need to know: In the long-run, you may notice smoother and brighter skin, as it targets texture, tone and radiance in one. I was surprised that I didn’t notice any tingling or stinging on my skin, which is a bonus for those with sensitivity.

How to use it: Apply two to three drops onto clean skin every night, before serum and moisturiser, and massage it into your skin. No rinsing required. Remember that as it’s an exfoliator, so it will replace your regular scrub. Also, if you’re prone to sensitivity, easy into using this product: we suggest applying it every other night for the first week.
