Helen Mirren can be called a legend for many reasons, but as far as we’re concerned, she’s earned her hero status for proving to women all over the world that there’s no such thing as being too old to rock a bold or bright lip.

So next time you look at a pigmented lip colour and think “Surely I’m too old for this”, think of Dame Helen Mirren and one of these seven amazing lip looks she’s pulled off (and these are just in the last year!).

Bold red

This matte red hue paired with lined and defined eyes is a simple, yet effective way, to add glamour to any look.

Stained pink

Bright colour a bit too much for you? Dab it onto your lips with your finger to get a punch of colour that’s not as intense.

Burgundy

This brown-based hue will look fabulous on those with warm skin tones. If you’re skin is a bit cooler, look for a wine or berry shade that has hints of blue or purple.

Deep pink

This red-meets-pink shade is a great balance between feminine and powerful, and as you can see, doesn’t need more than some eye definition and blush to work well.

Candy pink

Helen is never one to shy away from a playful beauty look (remember her pink hair?), and this fuchsia shade is just another example of how she experiments with her makeup - a lesson we could all learn!
